Helping Your Child with Reading

You read to your children … but do you really know how you are reading?Depositphotos_17830493_s

When you read to your children, you recognise the words because they are familiar to you. You can read, so you have seen lots of words and you know lots of the words in the books. How does your child read when he doesn’t know the words by sight? Try reading these two words and work out how you read the words:

  •  Said … you just knew that word from seeing it so often!
  • Glochidiate … you did not know that word so had to break it up and sound it out.

Reading is simply putting sounds to letters and then joining the sounds together to make words.

This hands-on workshop helps you to understand:

  • how your child learns to read
  • what you can do to help them.
